Thanksgiving Family Weekend

OK so this is coming a little late, but we have been so busy that this is the first time I have been able to post.

We had an enjoyable 5 days in Colorado with Chris's family. It's always nice to see his parents, brother, sister-in-law, and the kids. Grandpa Whited had fun reading to Kate about the farm while Grandma gave Kate lesson in how to use hew new sewing machine.
We spent an afternoon exploring the 3 beautiful parks in Cortez. They are so much nicer than ours! Kate loved going back and forth over this bridge on the playground set. I think we counted that she went back and forth 15 times in a row!

Next she chased the geese by the parks' pond. I now call her Kate the Geese Herder.

Thanksgiving was actually my least favorite day. We saw the very beginning of the Macy's parade and Kate was thrilled to see the Sesame Street float with Cookie Monster and Mo! I spent most of the day chasing Kate around her uncle and aunt's house. She wouldn't sit and eat so neither of us had much of a thanksgiving meal. Oh well, we have turkey here at home that we can fix. :) Kate did have fun playing with her cousin, Taeylor, and really enjoyed the whip cream of the pumpkin pie. (She completely ignored the pie - silly girl.)
That evening, we celebrated Christmas with Chris's parents. Kate enjoyed opening her gifts and helping others open theirs!We have tradition of Fridays. No it's not to get up in the wee hours of the morning and go shopping. Instead we look for the bald eagles (10 this year) that are around during this time of year, and we also visit the Four Seasons Nursery that is down the road from Chris's family. I love to see the various Christmas trees decorated with the colorful ornaments. Kate was fascinated by the Christmas lights! They even had Santa's sleigh so she played in that.

Now, dash away, dash away, dash away all!

Just before we left, Chris helped his dad get all of the Christmas decorations down from the attic. While we waited, Grandma let Kate sit and "drive" the rising lawn mower! Maybe next summer Grandpa will give her a ride.
