A lot of Halloween Fun!

We had a great time celebrating Halloween with Kate this year! It's the one time a year I can get her play dress up! ;) For awhile I thought she was going to be a bumblebee or reuse her giraffe costume from last year. A month before Halloween she told me that she wanted to be Saturn or Jupiter. We talked about it and decided on the Solar System. Within minutes we had the costume figured out. She eagerly helped me paint the planets (including Pluto and our moon). I think it turned out well, and I am grateful that my mom sewed the Velcro on the shirt for me. It would have taken me twice as long!

Our first party was at Gymboree.  The Thursday before Halloween, the kids dressed up for class. They had a lot of fun playing games and doing Halloween crafts. Although, Kate was disappointed that they didn't do any "homework" that week. In other words, they didn't work on a letter!
That night we had dinner in town and headed back to Gymboree for their fabulous Halloween art party. They did games like Bop the Goblin, Ghost Hunting with flashlights, flying down the witches broomstick, and so much more! They made a cute pumpkin tin basket and enjoyed a yummy snack of Frankenstein pudding cups (green pudding with crumbed Oreos on top).
The next day we headed to IHOP with DadDad (Kate's newest way of calling Chris) for her free scary face pumpkin pancake. She didn't eat much, but she enjoyed the candy corn teeth and mini Oreo eyes.
Then we headed off to meet the Gymboree group at the pumpkin patch! We hung out with Kate's best bud, Ashely, and her parents. Those girls are inseparable! :)
We got off the hayride, and Kate immediately found our 3 "perfect pumpkins." After we had the three, she refused to look any farther.

We didn't have much time left after the hayride to play, but the girls were content playing on the large slides. Kate ventured into the corn box for a little bit but then back up to the slide. We ended the time at Bunnyville, where Kate decided the bunnies were named Max and Ruby. :)
Sunday we carved, decorated and painted those perfect pumpkins and a couple more from another local pumpkin patch. Kate had fun shoving Mr. Potato Head pieces into her pumpkin. She drew the faces on the other two and DadDad worked hard to create a haunted house on his pumpkin.

Halloween day, we headed up to Chris' office for the office trick or treat. Kate was declared Miss Universe and once again loaded her bag to the brim.
Her friend, Aaron, loved her planet costume.  His room is turning into a space room as well. :)
Of course this year she really understands Halloween and could hardly wait to go to trick or treating in the neighborhood. Unlike at Chris' office where she played shy, in the neighborhood, Kate went to every door and said "trick or treat" and "thank you!" I went to the door with her the first handful of times, but then she was running to the doors on her own!
We only did one street (plenty for a girl who doesn't get much candy at home anyway), but she still filled her basket with goodies again! Everyone adored her costume, even the teenagers out in their costumes. We came home and Kate helped pass out our candy.  I think we all had a great time, and we can't wait to bring Elizabeth next year! :) And no she won't be getting candy, but she will be dressed up. :)
