Library Time

Today we went out to lunch and then over to the library. While at lunch, Kate was all snugly with Great Grammie. Part of my mom's program is at the Waukegan Library. They have the most amazing children's section I have ever seen, especially considering it is Waukegan (it wasn't always the nicest place). Over the last couple of years, the library has remodeled the children's library. WOW!! They have an Early Learning Center which changes it's theme every year. The current theme is dinosaurs. Yes, Kate was thrilled! It runs until November, and then they will close it for 2 weeks as it's remodeled to an Under the Sea theme.

I think we spent the 30-45 minutes or more in the first section which was the art center. Kate colored and glued dinosaurs and yarn to papers. She looked at the 2 geckos in the cage. She really enjoyed the sand table where they had a few fossils buried. Kate found a large piece and 5 little fossils. She put the big one down and then the little bones around the top of it to create a foot. I walked over to where Kate was when she was working on it, and Kate told me it was a foot. I was amazed at her creativity and insight!Kate was in love with the giant stuffed dinosaur and her baby that were in the stage/dress up/puppet area. She dragged the baby with her to the dinosaur book section where she picked out a book for me to read. As I read it she was clinging to her dinosaur. She even tried to ride it at one point. Here are some pictures of the rest of ELC and Kate enjoying everything. We were there for nearly 2 hours! We can't wait to come back next year and see the ocean theme!
Yep, she is smiling at the T-Rex breaking through the wall. :)

Kate playing with the giant calculator.
Our future paleontologist looking at the display cases of dinosaur bones, a dinosaur's nest and digging tools.
Kate had a blast with the music center. Great Grammie was conducting. :)
technical difficulties. this video won't post right now. :(

There are computers with touch screens all over the ELC. Kate was fascinated by the painting computer. It was nice. Even though Kate knows her colors I could see how it was a useful learning tool. She saw the word for the color as well as heard the word. She thought it was so cool when she changed the picture!!
