As many of you know, one of our (ok it's really mine) favorite book series is Don't Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus. Mo Willems has created an adorable series of books about a this Pigeon is a typical 4 year old and has these wild ambitions (driving a bus, wanting a puppy and then a walrus). He even learns how to share his hot dog with a duckling.
A month ago my mom called me to see if I thought Kate would enjoy seeing a play based on these books. Of course! We have read all four regular books and the two board books. Mom bought the tickets as a birthday present for our little pigeon.
The show was in Chicago at the Apollo theater. It was an hour long and FANTASTIC! The actors were just great and the 6 stories just flowed perfectly. Kate was riveted. :) We brought her pigeon stuffed animal and she held it through the entire show and for an hour or more after! She now carries him around the house!
At the end of the show Kate met the actors. The kids had received their very own program with a spacial autograph section. The actors thought she was just so cute! I think she was the youngest child there!
| Kate meets Duckling (she is a much better sharer than pigeon!) |
| Bus Driver was so nice to her |
Here is a link to their youtube page for the song the kids were supposed to learn. We didn't bother since Kate is only just starting to sing outside of her room. ;) It is really cute though and gives you an idea what the show was like.
