What a difference a month makes

It's hard to believe the changes Kate has made this past month. We have put away the little potty, and she now goes on the big one (still a few accidents, but she is getting there). Her language, vocabulary and sentence structure seems to expand every hour! Her desire to learn is astounding, and the topics she is interested blow us away! Our little scientist is a social butterfly and asks for play dates constantly. She loves to keep busy with Gymboree, friends, and museums!

Kate art abilities also have improved. While she still doesn't like to color in a coloring book, she is now drawing pictures and storytelling. The day before she turned 2 3/4 years old, Kate grabbed a crayon and paper and drew me 2 quick pictures. She was excited to make circles. She told me what she was drawing. She suddenly told me she was drawing an astronaut with eyes. Sure enough when the drawing was completed, you really could see that astronaut (not just a scribble), the planets, and rockets.Sometimes I forget how young she is when we are in art class and the other children are drawing people and things and you can tell what they are. I forget that Kate is actually one of the youngest in that class. During Christmas I saw the kids drawing snowmen and Santas and tried to encourage Kate to do it too. Of course Kate's was large circles and drawing on top of each other so you couldn't tell. It was so exciting to see the details in this latest art work and actually see the image that Kate was drawing. She is so proud of her work and constantly looks at it on the fridge. I can't wait to see more of her imagination come to life on paper! :)
