Our Garden

Now that the yard is in we have started to focus on planting the very large flower bed! We are having so much fun plant shopping! There are so many beautiful plants and flowers that we want for our yard. So far we have planned four distinct areas of the flowerbed. The skinny side will have wildflower seeds planted in the spring. About a third of the back bed will be a butterfly/hummingbird garden. Another third will have three crape myrtle trees (we have 2 planted) and also a veggie garden next year. The last third is a rose garden with a bird feeder and hopefully a bird bath is we ever find one!

Last weekend one of the nurseries had a great sale on perennials so we loaded up a wagon and bought several plants for the butterfly/hummingbird garden. We are hoping the crape myrtles grow quickly so they block the view from our back neighbor's porch. They will also be good shade for the veggies during our hot summer.

One the drip system was in place the Gerber daisies between the roses by the house really perked up.

We will add pecan shells to finish it all off. We can't wait to find about 6 more roses and see what veggies we will plant next year. We are also hoping we can find the deep red crape myrtle to finish the back. We'll keep you updated :)
